These were clearly made by a an accomplished artist (possibly known) who was demonstrating his carving skills. Spoons like this were often made as prestige objects for chiefs and nobility. They have acquired warm mellow patinas from age and the bowls show evidence of wear and use. In excellent original condition with a couple hairline age cracks on the chain links.
