HAMILL GALLERY of AFRICAN ART

Hamill Gallery of African Art, located in Boston, Massachusetts, is a 7000 sq. ft. exhibition space showing ever changing displays from 75 major peoples, giving a balanced view of subjects, styles and techniques used for centuries in west and central Africa. Works include masks, figures, artifacts, textiles, jewelry, books and posters giving an idea of the visual impact and spiritual power of tribal art. Every three months special exhibitions highlight one tribe or theme.

Groen African Art has been specialising in classical African art for over 30years. The objects in the gallery's collection are chosen for their sculptural quality. Preference is given to the West African tribes that combine expression and monumentality with simplicity and a modest style. There is a particular emphasis on monumental objects from tribes such as the Lobi from Burkina-Faso, the Igbo from Nigeria and tribes from the Benue and Niger River.
