Designed by Philip Johnson, and completed in 1963, the Pre-Columbian gallery consists of eight circular glass pavilions arranged in a square. In combination with transparent and translucent exhibit cases, the glass enclosures allow the natural, wooded environment of the Dumbarton Oaks landscape to envelope the objects on display.
