The Kuba (also named the Bushoong for the most influential chiefdom in the Kuba confederacy) founded a powerful state, located in the south-central part of the Democratic Republic of the CongoAside from the beautiful cloth mentioned above, the Kuba also produce carved wooden masks and figures. They also carve headrests, divination oracles, and anthropomorphic cups.In the midst of vast upheavals in the country, past and present, the patterns in their textiles are among the most complex in the world. The Kuba also use analogies drawn from weaving to explain how both individual identity and the universe itself was created.
